Quick Tip: Get to the bottom of your lip gloss tube

Ever have trouble getting to the bottom of a doe-foot lip gloss gloss or concealer tube?
Grrr.

The hot-water trick never really works that well for me for cleaning off the bottom and sides of the tube, so I came up with an easier way to reach the remnants:
  1. Take out the stopper first, if you haven't already. (It's usually rubber, and can thus easily be popped out by hand or with a blade.)
  2. Wipe off the end of the applicator.
  3. Take a piece of masking or other tape. Wrap it around the bottom of the applicator, and fold it up at the end.
  4. Stick the applicator back in and swirl.
In the tube
After one spin
VoilĂ , enjoy the rest of your gloss! No need to pay for an expensive custom makeup spatula.
Plus, you can still use the same tube this way, instead of transferring to a separate cup that you have to dip your filthy mortal fingers into, like a lot of the hot-water tutorials recommend.

Review & Photos: Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Face Screen

By the way, if you're wondering why I have it covered up in tape, it's because I've had a similar tinted moisturiser in another glass bottle before that shattered on me after a few months. Fortunately, I had it wrapped up in masking tape; unfortunately, said tape was opaque, and I was dumb. It took me a while to realise that the cuts on my forehead and gritty bits in the product were from broken glass. Took me even longer to stop using the product.

Here's the shade 'Light Tint', which is between 'Extra Light' and 'Medium Tint':

Quick summary of thoughts:
I like this. It gives more coverage than most tinted sunscreens, though it's not that moisturising. I especially like the idea of it having 'natural' ingredients so that I can have my drunken mid-day snoozes with this on, conveniently disregarding that fact that it'd clog pores no matter what unicorn poo it came from.

In the end, though, US$48 (!!) is just too much to pay for this little bottle. I'm glad my mother passed this one onto me, but I'd never pay that sort of money myself.
